About the Event
This year we're celebrating National Tree Day early, and planting a new run of shelter trees.
Each year we celebrate National Tree day with a mass planting event. Â After the devastation to our region through drought, the unprecedented bushfires of 2019/2020, and ongoing flooding, we have created extensive new tree runs and an entire fruit orchard which in future years will provide fruit for the residents of Little Oak, and a stunning run of Black Myrtle trees to shelter our stables. Â This year, we're planting a run of "Baby Blue" Eucalyptus trees to provide our animals and the wildlife with vital shelter from the harsh westerly winds. Â Before you've planted your tree, we'll take you on a short tour of the sanctuary (up to 1 hour) where you can meet some of our residents and hear more about our work.
The entry price covers the cost of your tree, the tour and light vegan refreshments. Â We have a limit of 20 trees however you can plant one as a couple, a group or a family. Children under 10 are free, but they must be supervised at all times. Â If you can't make it on the day, you can still donate to fund a tree and our volunteers will plant it for you. Â
The sanctuary is located between Bungendore and Braidwood, about an hour from Canberra, Goulburn or Batemans Bay, and 2.5 hours from Sydney.
