Colleen & Patrick Goatreau

“May our daily choices be a reflection of our deepest values, and may we use our voices to speak for those who need us most, those who have no voice, those who have no choice.” -  Colleen Patrick-Goudreau
Birth date: Colleen: June 2012 Patrick: June 2014     Arrival date: 29th June 2015

Found wandering the outskirts of Penrith, this gorgeous Mama and her babe were not only at risk of being hit by a car but Mama was suffering from severly overgrown hooves.  Curling up and around itself, her back hoof was so deformed that it had impacted her gait, and was obviously painful to walk on.

Taken in by the Penrith Pound, Little Oak Sanctuary was notified of their plight by Penrith Area Lost and Found Animals group, who helped with the logistics of getting this pair to us.

We named these two Colleen & Patrick Goatreau, after the amazing "Joyful Vegan" herself, Colleen Patrick-Goudreau.

Colleen will require ongoing maintenance to return her hoof as close as possible to normal, and she may always walk with an odd gait as a result of being left with this condition for as long as she was.

These two are a very sociable pair, who have very little regard for fencing.  Patrick, as a young fellow, really enjoys the company of the goat babes (Vincent Van Goght, N'Annie Lennox, Wally Gotye and Goldie Horns) and the pair go to great lengths to spend their days in the same paddock as them so that they can play - returning back to the rest of the goat herd overnight as the babes and their Mums spend the evenings in the stables to keep everyone safe.
